The Job

by admin on April 21, 2009

Sometimes I do little freelance research jobs for people. I figure out how to do something for them so they can do something else with there time. I am a technologist not a technophile. I like to know how to do things like use a bowdrill or change my oil because I think grown ups should have a certain skill set but when it comes to technology it is a job, I do it for pay.

Don’t get me wrong I have some favorite bits of technology freebsd and linux for example but my knowledge of computers, cellphones and things like tcp/ip is created and sustained by my need to make money or complete some task. Mostly.

( There are absolutely no absolutes! :-) )

I’m not in love with technology though we co-exist amicably. I figure keeping up is just a part of keeping up with life’s constant change. It’s a bonus that someone is willing to pay me to keep up with the changes and help them use technology. That’s the Job.
