Today I really didn’t have much to write about so I decide to write about a product I’m using . I need the practice so here it is. I hate thrips so when my banana plant got thrips from a ebay plant I purchased I was upset.
The controls I had tried in the past had failed. Neem failed. Soapy water failed. Hot pepper spray failed. Thrips had eaten and killed some plants I got from my mother when I was 12 years old. I had them for 20 years. If I could find a thrips stink t-shirt I would wear it. So let me say it again I hate thrips.
In order to save my banana I had to look for something else to kill the thrips. After some internet research I found a product that worked. spinosad. It killed those thrips quick fast and in a hurry.
If I remember correctly spinosad the active ingredient in Monterey Garden Spray is derived from a fungus. What I do know for a fact it worked for me. I sprayed every 6 days for a month to be sure. But it worked and that is what matters.
I do think I should mention that you need to add a surfactant or soap as a sticker and you need to use it up 24 hours after mixing . And it is toxic to fish so don’t pour it out or spray where the Monterey spray will end up in your aquarium, pond or our water way’s. I’ll have to check but i think it willl also kill bees. I like bees . So don’t kill bees.
Be sure to take the necessary precautions and read the instructions. I read and follow them every time I use an insecticide and you should too. Don’t be a wanker use the proper safety procedures. Well, that’s it for now.
